Hide details only for some events
Use a rule to show Busy or Private for the events you pick, such as big meetings or one source calendar, and leave every other copy as it is, on Plus.

Yes, you can sit between "everything as Busy" and "everything in full". Set the field to Custom, add an If rule for the events you want treated differently, and set Otherwise to Same as original so every other event is left alone. Rules need a Plus plan.
Two examples below, both for the What copies look like section of your sync.
Big meetings show as Busy
Use this when large meetings should block time on the other calendar, whatever you marked them.
- On the Free or busy row, pick Custom. A panel titled Free or busy opens.
- Press If. For the check, choose Guest count, then at least, and type 10.
- Set that rule's result to Busy.
- Set Otherwise to Same as original.
- Use Example event at the top to pick an event with attendees. Result shows what the copy gets, and the matching rule is marked Used for this event.
Now an event with 12 guests arrives as Busy. An event with 4 guests that you marked Free stays Free, and one you marked Busy stays Busy. The result choices for this field are Same as original and Busy; there's no "Free" result, so a rule can only make a copy Busy, never free up time.
Guest count is the number of unique addresses on the attendee list. It's 0 when the event has no attendees.
This changes whether the copy blocks time. It doesn't hide the title. To keep a title off a copy, use the Title row, or the privacy example next.
Everything from one calendar is Private
Use this when a sync collects several calendars and only one of them is personal.
- On the Privacy row, pick Custom. A panel titled Privacy opens.
- Press If. For the check, choose Source calendar, then is, and pick the personal calendar from the menu. It lists the source calendars in this sync; you pick one, you don't type it.
- Set that rule's result to Private.
- Set Otherwise to Same as original.
Copies of events from that calendar are marked Private, and copies from the others keep the privacy of their originals. What someone else then sees depends on the provider and on how that calendar is shared with them, so open a test copy as the other person before you rely on it.
The Source calendar check works the same way on the Title row, where a rule's result can be plain text such as "Busy", and on the Description and Location rows.
How rules are read
- Rules run from the top, and the first one that holds wins. If none does, Otherwise applies. Drag a rule by its grip, or use the arrow keys, to reorder.
- A rule can have up to 10 checks, joined by and or or, and a field can have up to 10 rules.
- A rule that isn't finished, such as an empty number box, is flagged inline and holds Start and Save until you fix it.
- Example event only lists the next five events of your source calendar. If none of them has the property you're testing, the preview won't show the rule firing.
Where this differs from Pro's settings for each destination calendar
A rule decides by the event: its guest count, or the calendar it comes from. Pro's settings for each destination calendar decide by the calendar a copy lands in, and reach more fields. Show Busy one way, full detail the other walks through that one.
Known limitations
- Rules need Plus. On Free, If and the Guest count check carry a Plus badge and open the upgrade message when pressed.
- If you downgrade, rules pause. Copies then get the title "Busy", no description or location, privacy set to Private and free or busy set to Busy, until you upgrade again. Your saved rules are kept.
