Why is my sync paused
Every Paused label a sync can show, what caused it, whether you can resume it yourself and when to contact support.
Last updated
A paused sync copies nothing until it is resumed. Nothing is deleted when a sync pauses, and your original events are never touched. The label on the sync tells you why. Find it below. Where the sync shows a Resume button, that is the fix once the cause is gone. Where it shows Reconnect account, reconnect first.
If you paused the sync because of a Team rule, see why a Team rule limits my sync.
Paused
You paused this sync. Press Resume when you want it to run again. Nothing else to check.
Paused — account needs reconnection
One of the accounts needs to be reconnected. The sync is paused until then. The account is named on the sync.
What to do: press Reconnect account and sign in again. If the sync still shows as paused afterwards, press Resume. See Re-authorization needed for why this happens.
Paused — calendar permission needed
SYNCDATE paused this sync because it can no longer reach the named account's calendar, usually because permission was removed in your Google account. Nothing is copied while it's paused.
What to do: press Reconnect account and allow every permission it asks for. Syncing starts again on its own once the permission is back.
Paused — source calendar unavailable
SYNCDATE can't reach a calendar this sync reads from. It may have been deleted, or no longer shared with you. SYNCDATE keeps checking and resumes the sync by itself once the calendar is back.
What to do: check that the calendar still exists and is still shared with the account. If you removed it on purpose, delete the sync or pick another calendar. You can also press Resume once the calendar is back.
Paused — source calendar access needed
The source Google calendar shares busy times only, not event details.
- One-way sync: it can still run with this access. Press Resume to continue. Event details may be unavailable and some changes may be less precise.
- Two-way sync: the sync needs permission to edit that Google calendar. Ask the calendar's owner for edit access, then press Resume.
Paused — safety check
SYNCDATE paused this sync after one run removed an unusually large number of events. It does this so a mistake on one calendar doesn't wipe the other.
What to do:
- If you expected the removals, press Resume. That lets the cleanup continue automatically for up to 24 hours, or until it finishes.
- If you didn't expect them, keep it paused and contact support before doing anything else.
The same pause appears on your Home page as "paused to protect your calendars", with Resume and Keep paused buttons. See also what SYNCDATE can't do.
Paused — plan changed
This sync was paused when your plan changed. Press Resume, or upgrade first if your plan has no room for it. See plan-limit messages and plans and limits.
Paused — account no longer valid
The provider says the account is gone. Reconnecting won't bring it back. The sync stays paused until you remove the account and connect it again, or connect a different one.
What to do: remove the account and connect it again, or connect a different one. If the account really was deleted, delete the sync too.
Paused — contact support
This sync needs help from support before it can continue. There is nothing for you to press. Email support@syncdate.app with the sync's name and the address you sign in with.
Paused — contact support to delete
This sync was created with our old engine and can't be moved. Contact support and we'll remove it for you. It no longer copies events.
Paused — SYNCDATE hold
SYNCDATE paused this sync itself while it made a change to the sync. There is no Resume button. It clears on its own. If it stays, contact support and give the sync's name.
On your Home page
Paused syncs appear under Needs attention on Home with these titles:
| Title | What to do |
|---|---|
| "needs you to sign in again" | Press Sign in. See Paused — account needs reconnection. |
| "can't reach" a calendar | Press Check again, or open the calendar. See Paused — source calendar unavailable. |
| "paused to protect your calendars" | See Paused — safety check. |
| "is paused" with "You're over your plan's limit." | Press See plans. See Paused — plan changed. |
| "paused — calendar permission needed" | See Paused — calendar permission needed. |
| "needs attention" with "Syncing is paused. Contact support and we'll sort it out." | Contact support. |
