Outlook ↔ Google, both directions
Start with this recipeBook in Outlook or Google and the other one agrees, with real titles and locations. Works with Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com. Works on the Free plan.
Last updated
Your work meetings and everything else in both places, each with its real title and location.
Works on: Free.
When this is for you
Work lives in Outlook, everything else lives in Google, and you need both to agree.
Before you turn it on
- Guests are not copied, so a copy will not show who else is coming and will not send invitations.
- Reminders are switched off on copies so you don't get every alert twice.
How it works
Both calendars send and both receive, so a meeting booked in Outlook is on your Google calendar and the other way round. Edit either copy and the other is updated to match; if both were edited before they met, the more recent change survives. A Microsoft 365 work account and a personal Outlook.com account are set up the same way. If your workplace restricts which apps can reach calendars, an administrator may need to allow SYNCDATE before the account will connect.
What you'll pick
- Your Outlook calendar (1 calendar; sends and receives): The Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account.
- Your Google calendar (1 calendar; sends and receives): The Google account you want kept in step.
Setting it up
- Connect your Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com account.
- Connect the Google account you want kept in step.
- Choose "Original" for the title and set Reminders to "Off".
- Check it worked: add one test event on each calendar. Each copy should show the same title, location and time on the other side. If the work account asks for approval or blocks writing, ask your administrator.
Variations
You can add these to this sync at any time, without starting over.
Sync everything except all-day events
Add an "All-day events" exclude rule and holidays, birthdays and travel banners stay out of the calendar you sync into. It also catches birthdays from a subscribed calendar, which "Special dates from contacts" cannot — those arrive as ordinary events, so only the all-day rule sees them.
Only invitations you've accepted
Set "Invitations" to "Only yes" and meeting requests you haven't answered stay out of the calendar you sync into until you accept them.
Set this up
Start with this recipe opens the sync screen with this recipe's direction and common settings already filled in. You pick the calendars, and you can change any setting before anything syncs.
